New Website, New Blog, but the Old Blog Archive remains: September 28, 2023

After many years of wanting a real website, this month I finally have a website designed by the very knowledgeable Rey Rey Rodriguez ( TheMindOfReyRey ). My old blog,  Vacation-Travel-Adventure  continues with the same address but it is located in the "Archives" tab on my new website  https://www.ceciliaclark.com/ . The new blog which is a continuation but with much better resolution for 4K screens, it is now at  https://www.ceciliaclark.com/blog .

In the Baja, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico: February 18-23, 2014

We're in Mexico for some un-work related travel--a vacation.  We began our vacation with a stopover in Cabo San Lucas to visit our neighbors, Bob and Sharon, who normally live down the street from us in California, but have now become snowbirds spending part of the winter in Mexico.  Also visiting, were Bob's cousin, Bob, and his wife Karen both from Oregon.

Their spectacular Cabo home with a view of the Sea of Cortez and Land's End made us feel like we were in an episode from "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous."  From their terrace we watched specular sunsets and for me, the rarely experienced sunrise. It made getting up before the sun worth losing sleep over.

These are all sunrises taken from our friends' house.  The string of rocks is known as Land's End, and they separate the Sea of Cortez from the Pacific Ocean.  The gap where the waves from both bodies meet (kiss) is called Lover's Beach.

Bob and Sharon chauffeured the six of us to Cabo's best sights and experiences. We went to the beach and Dan challenged Sharon to a darkest-tan competition.  Sharon won.  Dan's skin turned red brown. After about a week, his skin shed like his no-shouldered relatives.

We spent a wonderful morning at Flora Farms near La Paz learning how to make roasted salsa, guacamole, and tortillas followed by a fabulous lunch that included the dishes we created.

Bob found us a photogenic spot from which to watch the sun slowly set behind Land's End while surfers caught waves in front.

A few mornings, Dan and I joined Sharon and some of her walking buddies for a hike among the cacti up the desert slope behind their house.

One day, we went to Todos Santos. Todos Santos, on the Pacific coast, is a town of art galleries. Much of the art reflects the absolutely glorious colors of Baja sunrises and sunsets. And, we watched yet another fabulous sunset from a beautiful B&B/restaurant called Posada la Poza while drinking margaritas.

Bob's cousin Bob, Bob, Sharon, Karen (cousin Bob's wife) and us in the back row.

As spectacular as everything has been, it doesn't come close to our afternoon of whale watching.  It was windy and the water was rough, but the conditions didn't stop the humpback whales--they frolicked while the sailboat pitched back and forth.  We saw whales breaching, tail slapping, waving their flukes.

Fabulous food, fabulous company, and a whale's tale of an adventure.  Visiting with friends was the perfect way to begin our two weeks in Mexico.
