We departed the hotel at 5:30 am to photograph the scenery from a bridge in Yangshuo. Unfortunately, as we set up our tripods and cameras it began to drizzle and then rain. We put rain protection on our cameras and persisted. Despite the drizzle, the scene was softly lovely with fog covering the background Karst formations. And, then it poured.
Back at the hotel, we had an awful breakfast and a cup of coffee of uncertain provenance that even I couldn't finish. Real coffee is a rare commodity in this part of China.
Our next stop is for a three-night stay at Xianggong Mountain. On the way, we stopped at a roadside scenic overlook to take in the view of villages sprinkled between amazing Karst formations.
The hotel we stayed at Xianggong Mountain is owned by a man who taught himself photography and got the entire community involved in promoting photographic tours to the mountain. The hotel is comfortable, the surroundings are beautiful, and the food was spectacularly good. No coffee but in Yangshuo I prepared for that eventuality by purchasing a box of Nescafe packets.
Our late afternoon photo shoot was another roadside scenic overlook. We had a nice sky with God rays transforming the landscape.
